A college student in Hugli assaulted a veterinarian after getting stuck in a traffic jam on Wednesday afternoon. Around 12:30 PM, Archisman Modak, a second-year student of Hugli Mohsin College, was riding his bike from Bansberia toward the college when he encountered a traffic jam at Chunchura Bali Mor. A veterinarian, Biplab Das, was also present in his car, heading to his chamber.
According to reports, the student started verbally abusing the doctor with offensive language. When the veterinarian protested, Modak allegedly began physically assaulting him. Witnesses said the doctor, who is an elderly man, was attacked for several moments before bystanders intervened.
The situation escalated as the crowd attempted to retaliate against the student. Chunchura police quickly arrived at the scene in a patrol car, rescued Modak from the angry crowd, and took him to the police station for further action. No further details about injuries have been reported.
